history
The old ski jump on Papengrund
From 1930 to 1970 there was already a ski jumping hill on Papengrund. During this time it was rebuilt several times. Due to the lack of snow in winter, this old hill fell into disrepair until 1970. The 1936 Olympic champion in ski jumping Birger Ruud jumped the old hill in 1936 with a hill record of 40.5 m.
New beginning from 2000
At the beginning of 2000 the plans to build a new ski jumping center were implemented. The two new small hills K 10 and K 20 were completed in 2001. In 2003 the ski jump K 40 was added. On August 23, 2008 the ski jump K 60 with the 38 m high tower was inaugurated and was named "Sparkassen Ski-Arena". The construction costs for the K-60 ski jump amount to 1.7 million euros. During the renovation work for the new K 60, the run-out of the old K 20 and K 40 ski jump was changed. The K 20 became a K 21 and the K 40 became a K 42. By using jumping mats, it is possible to use the ski jumping center for competitions and training events even in the summer months.
outlook
It is planned to build a normal hill (category K 90) and a large hill (category K 120). Several international children's and youth competitions are held every year.
