Sharm El Sheikh Summit (2019)

The summit meeting of the Arab League EU 2019 was a general meeting of the Arab League from 24 to 25 February 2019 in Sharm el-Sheikh to which the European Council was also invited.

The host was Abd al-Fattah as-Sisi .

Angela Merkel and Theresa May were among the 50 participating heads of state . The Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström had already prepared a speech for the Foreign Ministers' Conference of the Arab League in Cairo for March 9, 2015 . After the speech was published, Wallström was discharged.

Sharm el-Sheikh summit declaration

The heads of state and government of the EU and the League of Arab States (LAS) have agreed to strengthen their partnership at the first summit between the two regions. They adopted a joint declaration: the summit opened a new dialogue between the European Council and the Arab League . The heads of state and government undertook to hold regular EU-LAS summits. The next summit is scheduled to take place in Brussels in 2022 .
