Treasure hunt (game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Treasure hunt” is a popular theme among children when playing hide and seek , often in connection with “pirates” .

As a terrain game

The "treasure hunt" is well suited as a theme for terrain games . Several groups are looking for the same treasure. By solving various tasks you will get information about the type of treasure and where it is located. Hints are given as a "treasure map" or as parts of one or as complicated descriptions or signs along the way. Often there is a fight for the treasure at the end and then a reconciliation with common sharing of the booty. Sometimes the terrain game is set up as a role-playing game, with treasure hunters, guards, treasure robbers, or mythical, historical or literary characters are built into the game. Or whole stories are spun around it with topics like “Treasure at the Silver Lake” or “Treasure of the Bounty” or something like that. Alternatively, each group has its own treasure, which must be guarded and protected, or stolen from the other group. Your own treasure can also be increased through creative, intellectual or sporting performance or through good deeds. Treasure can be buried, or hidden in a cave, or in a tree, or sunk in a lake, or floating on a raft and difficult to reach.

As a scavenger hunt

"Treasure hunt" is a popular theme for games at children's birthday parties . A “treasure chest” containing gold coins or other gifts is hidden. The path to the treasure chest is designed as a scavenger hunt in which the path is marked with sawdust or other signs. Or the children get a "treasure map" that describes the way. On the way you will often find different stations with tasks and games, where another clue can be gained on the way to the treasure.

As a board game

"Treasure hunt" is available as a board and parlor game in many variations.
