Drama School at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The drama school Schauspielhaus Salzburg is a private theater school in Austria.

history

The history of the Schauspielhaus Salzburg drama school is closely linked to that of the Schauspielhaus Salzburg . This, founded in 1958 under the name “ Elisabethbühne ”, has developed from an association of committed amateur actors under the artistic direction of Georges Ourth into a professional theater. Alongside this, young actors were repeatedly taught and included in the rehearsal process in order to secure their own young actors. In the years that followed, this model resulted in increasingly professional training and ultimately the founding of the Schauspielhaus Salzburg drama school.

education

The training lasts three and a half years and is free of charge.

It is based on the Eleven system, which actively involves students in the theater from the first year of training. The drama school Schauspielhaus Salzburg is one of the few drama schools in the German-speaking area that still trains in this system. This includes, among other things, regular play (children's, youth and evening play) from the second year of training. This gives the students the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice on stage and to work with professional colleagues and different directors.

The acting training is based, among other things, on the theater methods of Konstantin Stanislawski, Bertolt Brecht and Sanford Meisner. Regular checks at the joint examination commission in Vienna based on aptitude, control and maturity examinations guarantee a professional standard of training.

Training costs

There is no school fee to be paid, but playing the performances as part of the lessons and training is not financially rewarded.

Duration of training

The training lasts three and a half years, with each school year running from September to June. The first year, which is also regarded as a probationary year, begins in April after consultation with the students.

admission

The admission procedure is divided into two rounds. After applying via the school's homepage, an appointment will be made. Various monologues and a song have to be prepared for this. All applicants who have successfully passed this round are invited to the second round, which is scheduled a few months before the start of the course. On this day, applicants attend some classes as a group and individually. Then there is another audition in front of the school, after which everyone receives individual feedback with the respective final result.

classes

Lessons take place in groups or individually, depending on the subject. So that the lecturers can individually cater to the needs of each individual student, no more than six students are accepted per year.

The lessons include:

  • Role study
  • Scenes studies (as well as a scenic group project per year)
  • Breath, voice and speech training
  • singing
  • Body work and movement training (including spiral dynamics, Feldenkrais)
  • Acting basics
  • improvisation
  • dance
  • acrobatics
  • Stage fight
  • Aikido
  • Theater theory

There are also various workshops, e.g. B. microphone speaking, self-marketing and marketing at work, deepening various acting methods, etc. In addition, after consultation with the directors of the Schauspielhaus Salzburg, the students have the opportunity to watch rehearsals of the current productions or even to actively participate through an assistant director.
