Schedulix is an open source - software for IT Process Automation ( enterprise job scheduling ) provided by the company independIT Integrative Technologies GmbH was developed.

function

Schedulix allows the definition, execution, monitoring and control of hierarchically organized flow definitions of operating system processes in distributed, heterogeneous system environments. Dependency definitions enable you to ensure that the processes are executed in the correct order. The schedulix resource management is used to determine the place of execution of the processes, the load control and distribution, as well as the synchronization of independently started processes.

The core of Schedulix is ​​a server process that is completely implemented in Java and manages all definitions and process status information via JDBC in an RDBMS . Job server agents on the computers to be automated connect to this server and, on its instruction, execute processes and report the exit code of these processes back to the scheduling server.

Schedulix is ​​administered and operated using command line tools or a graphical web interface that was developed on the basis of Zope . All Schedulix functions can be controlled via APIs.

The commercial version of Schedulix is ​​the BICsuite Enterprise Job Scheduling System . This offers extended rights management, export and import functions as well as a number of features that facilitate operation in very large system environments.

Schedulix can be used wherever operating system processes are to be executed automatically. Regardless of the size of the system and the number of processes to be automated, the use of Schedulix leads to more stable IT operations and reduces the costs for implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting of IT process flows.

Schedulix can also be ported to other POSIX- compliant operating system platforms on which Java is available with little effort . In addition to Linux, the commercial BICsuite Enterprise Job Scheduling System is already available for Windows and Solaris. Schedulix is ​​fully compatible with the BICsuite BASIC Edition. This is available to users as a binary release free of charge. Schedulix can therefore be operated in a heterogeneous Linux, UNIX and Windows environment without additional costs for the user.
