Mock whorls with flowers and fruits in the shrubby fire herb ( Phlomis fruticosa )

A pseudo whorl , more rarely a verticillaster , is a compound inflorescence . Two balls or "half whorls", compressed cymes (mostly thyrses ) are opposite each other and usually also touch. This creates the impression that it is a real whisk .

Scheinquirle are the characteristic inflorescences of the Labiatae (Lamiaceae).
