Shellac soap

As shellac soap bleached is known and generally dewaxed with ammonia saponified shellac .

For this purpose, the shellac is dissolved (saponified) in ammonia and then dried again. Other alkalis are also suitable as saponifying agents , such as. B. potassium hydroxide or caustic soda .

For the consumer, shellac soap has the advantage that he does not have to deal with caustic alkalis in order to obtain an aqueous solution of shellac.
