Way over the bridge

The Schellenbergbrücke is a bridge over the Eyach in Balingen in Baden-Württemberg , Germany , which today connects Hindenburgstrasse with Rollerstrasse for pedestrians. It originally served as a bridge over the Zollernalbbahn , connecting Wilhelmstrasse and Behrstrasse. Since Heinrich Schellenberg's factory was in the immediate vicinity of the old location , it was popularly known as the “Schellenberg Bridge”. It mainly served students on their way to sickle school.

In the early 1990s, the original steel girder bridge built in 1911 was replaced by a concrete bridge. In the mid-1990s, citizens of Balingen bought the bridge's steel girders in order to preserve them for posterity. In 1999 it was decided to rebuild the bridge at its current location, and in 2003 it was reopened. The renovation was financed by the city, the State Monuments Office and donations. As with the Eiffel Tower , the steel girders are riveted and not welded. The Schellenberg Bridge is a listed building.

Two boards were attached to the bridge with the history and technical data of the bridge.

The bridge is used by couples for love locks .
