Scheppach Fabrikation von Holzverarbeitungmaschinen GmbH, founded in 1927 and headquartered in Ichenhausen in Swabia (district of Günzburg), is a production and trading company. The internationally active group of companies manufactures and sells stationary and semi-stationary woodworking machines, firewood machines, gardening equipment, workshop machines, compressed air equipment, generators and construction machinery. 220 people are employed at four locations worldwide. In the 2017/2018 financial year, the scheppach Group generated sales of 220 million euros.
history
In 1927 Josef Scheppach (1887–1974) founded the company for agricultural machinery and circular firewood saws in Niederraunau near Krumbach (Swabia) . In 1950 his sons Fritz and Josef took over the company. Scheppach developed into a specialist in woodworking machines. In the course of continuous growth, the company headquarters moved to Ichenhausen in 1961. The agricultural machinery was given up in the mid-1970s and the company focused on wood processing. A second plant was built in 1980. In 1997 Ernst Pfaff took over scheppach GmbH and has been a managing partner since then. With the establishment of the 100% subsidiary Woodster GmbH, sales activities in the DIY store and discount area were taken up and the portfolio was continuously expanded. In 2016, construction began on the new administration building in Ichenhausen, where new office space is being created on around 1000 m².
Structure and divisions
Scheppach GmbH
The scheppach GmbH stands primarily for products in the workshop, garden and yard as well as construction. The traditional program of woodworking machines, including combination machines, is aimed at do-it-yourselfers, commercial users and schools. The scheppach Garten & Hof division includes woodworking machines and equipment for agriculture and forestry, gardening and landscaping as well as firewood processing for private individuals. The company also offers products for the fields of metalworking, workshop equipment, compressed air technology, garden maintenance, as well as hand-held tools including cordless tools, power generators and an extensive range of accessories.
Woodster GmbH
The subsidiary Woodster GmbH - at the headquarters of the parent company in Ichenhausen - was founded in 2005. The retail company's offer is designed for the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) and discount business areas.
Locations
In addition to the location in Ichenhausen, the company has the subsidiary scheppach France SARL in Strasbourg. This has another sales office in Toulouse. There is also the subsidiary Scheppach Australia Pty. Ltd. based in Sydney.
Patents / innovations
Since 2005, scheppach has developed and improved more than 400 products. The company currently holds over 100 patent rights.
