Scissor lever

Paired rods are referred to as scissor levers , which are crossed and connected to an axis at this intersection . A movement of two lever ends directed towards one another results in a similar movement of the respective opposite lever ends. This lever movement is used for various purposes, for example in scissors and pliers to cut or push an object or in lifts to generate a movement perpendicular to the triggering movement. In addition, scissor levers are also used to stabilize moving structures , for example in folding wheelchairs to fix the state of use.

With a row of scissor lever elements, each of which is movably connected to another scissor lever element at the lever ends, telescope-like, extendable support elements can be made (e.g. lifting platform - picture, see also: Nürnberger Schere ).
