Lifting platform
A lifting platform is a platform for lifting people or objects. In contrast to aerial work platforms , it can only be moved vertically, it cannot be turned or moved sideways.
Application examples
The actuation can take place in various ways, for example with the aid of hydraulically operating cylinders, spindle drives, articulated chains or with a pneumatic drive (air bellows). A lifting platform is often used in car workshops. It is also used in logistics, e.g. B. during loading of aircraft or in the form of a loading tailgate as the tailgate of delivery trucks. People lifting platforms are mainly used as work platforms for assembly work at great heights.
Construction area
Lifting platforms are used in the construction industry as work platforms to create structures and to carry out repair and maintenance work on structures. Lifting platforms are also used to lift structures or parts of structures. One application is, for example, lifting a transmission tower in order to put it on insulators or to replace them. Lifting platforms are also occasionally used in bridge construction.
Tree care
In tree care , lifting platforms are used as a work platform to prune large trees.
Motor vehicles
The lifting platform is the central work equipment in car workshops . The direct assumption before an actual power workshop and many repairs are complete only possible if the underbody of the vehicle is freely accessible, or the wheels are relieved. The drive is either hydraulic or electric . In contrast to the use of jacks , people can stand safely under the vehicle. A distinction is made between lifting platforms, in which a hydraulic pressure cylinder is sunk centrally in the floor, and lifting platforms that work with two lateral pillars (two-pillar platforms) that raise the vehicle laterally on a total of four extendable and adjustable support arms using electrically operated threaded spindles . Only with the latter version is it possible in principle to have the entire sub-floor accessible for work. An alternative to the lifting platform is the workshop pit or the four-column lifting platform , which is accessed via two ramps and which uses a hydraulically operated cable pull system to raise the ramps together with the vehicle. This allows z. B. axle measurements and adjustments can be made for which the vehicle must be lifted, but with the wheels on the ground (on the ramps). In the field of tire services, short lifting platforms (the vehicle wheels are on the ground in front of and behind them) with scissor lift mechanisms are also often used, which lift the vehicle to a height of less than 1 m for changing wheels.
Laboratory area
Small, height-adjustable racks, which are also called lifting platforms or laboratory boys , are used in the laboratory for stirring work or the processing of substances in open or closed vessels .
Theater and entertainment area
In the stage equipment lifts are used, the lifting platform are called. They are also used as a means of presentation in discos.
