Shi'ur

A Shi'ur or Shiur ( Hebrew שׁיעור, literally lesson, Pl. Shiurim) in Judaism denotes a lecture or a joint discussion and interpretation of passages from the Torah , the Talmud or other sacred scriptures. This can be both regular teaching units for the students of a Talmud school or a rabbinical seminar as well as a joint event for interested laypeople similar to Christian Bible circles .
