Franz Heidingsfelder
Franz Xaver Heidingsfelder (born December 2, 1882 in Waizendorf near Wolframs-Eschenbach , district of Ansbach ; † February 7, 1942 in Regensburg ) was a German historian .
Life
Heidingsfeld first studied Catholic theology and received in Eichstaett the priesthood . However, he concluded after a year of community activities to study history at the University of Wuerzburg and was due to one of Anton Chroust supervised dissertation on the conditions in the Bishopric of Eichstätt end of the Middle Ages and the causes of the Peasants' War (printed 1911) to Dr. phil. PhD. He then worked on the regests of the bishops of Eichstätt for the Society for Franconian History until he was appointed professor of church and art history at the Lyceum, the predecessor of the Philosophical-Theological University of Regensburg , in 1915 . In November 1933 he signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state at German universities and colleges . From 1937 to 1939 he was rector .
honors and awards
Together with his brother Georg Heidingsfelder , professor of philosophy and education at the Philosophical-Theological University of Eichstätt, he is the namesake of Professor-Heidingsfelder-Strasse in his place of birth.
