On a masonry hexagonal brick pillar is a niche attachment that contains the figure of a wooden Madonna and Child. The wayside shrine is crowned by a gilded wrought iron cross.

history

The Schieferlkreuz is located on the corner of Breitenfurter Strasse and Wienerbergbrücke . The Schieferlkreuz, also known as the White Cross , was named after the butcher Josef Schieferl (1786–1847) from Meidling, who had the wayside shrine prepared for his own account. It is not known when the original cross was created.

According to a legend, a knight is said to have been walled in at the place of the slate cross in the Middle Ages.

In 1920 a plaque was put up stating that Friedrich and Betty Fischer had the slate cross renovated for the glory of God and to commemorate the difficult times .
