The Schillinghaus is located on Hauptstrasse 33 in the municipality of Binswangen in the district of Dillingen an der Donau . The former Jewish house is a listed building .

history

The ground floor building with a gable roof and richly designed facade was built around 1840. The client was the local Jewish merchant (presumably Elieser) Baldauf, who ran a textile shop in the house. In 1903 the Baldauf family sold the building to Andreas Schilling. The house was not named after the builder, but after the last owner Maria Schilling, who sold it in 1990. After the building had fallen into disrepair, its extensive renovation began in 2010. In over 15,000 hours of volunteer work, over 200 citizens of the Binswangen community renovated the old Jewish house. The official inauguration took place on March 19, 2014. Today the Schillinghaus , which received a modern extension, is used by local associations.
