Wooden caravans are known as clapboard wagons . Due to their dimensions and massive construction, they are transported with trucks , towing vehicles or tractors , and in the past also with draft animals .

A clapboard wagon consists of a conventional trailer chassis with a wooden cabin on it. The roof structure is an arched roof , with so-called skylight cars also with skylight .

Clapboard wagons, once often called gypsy wagons, are often used in the circus .
