Arched roofs

An arched roof is a roof shape that is similar to the barrel roof , but in contrast to it is less arched. It is often made from cambered , bent sheet metal. An elliptical cross-section is appealing.

In Central Europe you can often see this roof shape on carports . This roof shape also occurs on closed rail freight cars , construction wagons or clapboard wagons .

Example of the segmental vault design

As the example of the segmental vaults , which have become increasingly popular in the United States since 2000 , the use of arched roofs can shape an entire architectural style.
