The Battle of Gemmano took place near Gemmano , a village in the province of Rimini , between September 4 and 15, 1944, during World War II , when the Allies tried to break through the Goths .

In the course of this battle, which developed from a series of four British attacks against the German posts, the village of Gemmano was occupied in the second attack on September 9th, while the following two operations resulted in the conquest of the surrounding area.

Although this battle was quite short, this battle is referred to by many historians as Monte Cassino on the Adriatic .
