Slaughter funnel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slaughter hoppers (English: poultry killing cone ) are used when killing and bleeding poultry to immobilize and restrain the slaughter animals. In poultry production , the slaughter process begins with the animals hanging upside down in slaughter hoppers or on a conveyor belt , which is always done manually in the same work step directly after unloading. In the slaughter funnel, bruises and injuries to the animals during transport and preparation for slaughter are avoided. The slaughter hoppers for chickens, turkeys or geese are designed according to their size. The animals must be kept or immobilized in the slaughtering funnel to ensure that the subsequent stunning using head blows , captive bolts or electrical stunning is carried out. After the poultry has been killed, the blood is cut .
