Impact wrench
An impact wrench is a simple tool for screwing in and, in particular, loosening screws and nuts with a strong hammer blow on the full metal head. This creates a significantly higher torque that does not have to be countered on the tool.
The manual impact wrench is often used to loosen rusted or over-tightened larger screws and nuts if only the screw head is damaged with a normal screwdriver. The blow z. B. a Phillips insert firmly pressed into the screw and sits correctly. At the same time, the beating force is converted into a correspondingly powerful rotary movement via an inclined plane (worm) and an internal thread.
The torque generated by the impact wrench can be so high that rusted screws are sheared off . Broken screws can be removed with a left hand screwdriver .
A distinction must be made between powered devices such as the B. from the tire assembly well-known pneumatic screwdrivers , electric screwdrivers or impulse screwdrivers or devices with hydraulic drive, which are used with higher torque accuracy and lower noise level in industrial assembly lines ( vehicle construction ).
