Water polo

In water polo, the hit shot is mostly used as a sharp and effective shot on goal.

With water polo , the constant treading of water makes shooting the ball difficult. Shooting here is a combination of movements of the whole body . To move the ball effectively, one should be agile and strong.

To practice a shot on goal one should stand in the shooting position .

The throw begins as soon as the ball is picked up. This is picked up from below when it lies on the water. The shooter tries to grip the ball as much as possible with his fingers spread wide. The next movement is the taking back of the ball. The firing arm is stretched backwards. At the same time, the body turns in the direction of the firing arm and the shooter rises by treading harder water up to the sternum or until the entire arm protrudes from the water. The other arm moves forward to gain momentum when firing. When the highest point is reached, usually when the firing arm is extended, the forward movement begins. The pelvic girdle and shoulder girdle are simultaneously rotated against the direction of the firing arm. The firing arm kinks in the elbow and pulls forcefully past the shooter's head. The other arm makes a quick backward movement. This makes the throw even stronger.

The direction of the ball is decided by the position of the hand. As a rule of thumb, the middle finger is the direction indicator. Where the middle finger points, the ball flies too. Very good players can change direction in the last few centimeters of the lead by turning the hand vigorously. These shots are very difficult for a goalkeeper to hold.

Handball

Main article see throwing technique (handball) .

The hit throw, sometimes also called a stem throw or core throw, is the basic technique of throwing in handball . All further throws are based on this throwing technique.

The 3 phases of the shot

  1. The left leg (for right-handers ) is turned slightly inwards in a step position. The ball is in front of the body. The ball is now guided backwards with the throwing hand. The limb is almost straight, the elbow is roughly at shoulder level. The left shoulder points slightly forward, the upper body is in an arched tension (light hollow back).
  2. The upper body is accelerated forward by releasing the bow tension and activating the abdominal muscles . The rotation in the upper body generates additional energy. With the arm pull and by following in the wrist, the ball is accelerated further and receives its direction.
  3. The swing is caught with the right foot (for right-handers). The view remains in the direction of the throw, no turning away.

This form of throw is the hardest throw in handball. Ball speeds of up to 130 km / h can be achieved. It is often played as a pass with reduced strength. With full power and quick arm guidance, it serves primarily as a goal throw from the "second row".
