Hose breathing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the area of gluing and dosing, hose breathing is the flexibility of a hose used to supply fluids (or gases). The hose slightly increases its internal volume when pressurized and stores energy. Hose breathing increases depending on the elasticity of the hose material used and the length of the hose.

disadvantage

The hose breathing leads to a decrease in pressure due to friction losses (see hose ) and to a delay in application at the material outlet after the material supply has been opened.

Solution approach

Nowadays, in addition to influencing the viscosity of fluid media through shear processes, this effect is achieved by measuring the flow rate with the aid of a flow meter, for example a gear measuring cell, measuring the delivery pressure by a pressure sensor directly in front of the spray head, and measuring the temperature (as a measure of the viscosity of the Adhesive ). The volume flow is controlled by adapting the piston speed, the viscosity is controlled by adapting the temperature (e.g. heating hoses ) using control algorithms during the application.
