A dragline shovel is an attachment to a dragline crane that is used to convey and pick up bulk material during wet extraction .

Dragline buckets are often used for underwater gravel extraction on a dragline excavator. For this reason, they are mainly used in sand or gravel pits as well as in earthworks or dike construction work.

The dragline shovel consists of a heavily perforated half-shell that is open at the front and hangs on two chain strands. Both are attached to the rope excavator's holding / conveyor ropes. This can be used to pull the dragline shovel at the bottom of a quarry pond through the gravel deposits there and thus fill it. The gravel content can then be emptied onto land with the aid of the rope excavator's ropes. By turning the dragline crane, the dragline shovel is thrown more or less far away from the bank as required, much like a fishing rod. Then the process of filling, pulling up, swiveling the dragline crane and emptying the dragline can begin again.
