Silesian lottery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Silesian lottery , even card lottery , card raffle , Green Meadow , Large lot or Buller males , is a simple game of chance , the two packages of 32 sheets ( German or French ) Playing cards is played.

The game

The following description is based on Meyer's Konversationslexikon from 1889.

Ransom

Each player takes from the 32 sheets of a packet, one or more, usually two cards ( lots ), and pays the banker per sheet to the agreed price (use) z. B. € 1.

Drawing

The banker then takes the second package, shuffles it, lets take off and draws nine sheets from it, first laying out four pairs one below the other, the ninth card is the big ticket (1st - 5th class draw ).

Payout

For each card in the first pair, the banker pays back the single bet, for each of the second pair double, for each of the third pair three times, for each of the fourth pair four times and for the big ticket nine times the stake. After each game the banker takes the drawn cards and shuffles them back into the card pack; the players can change their cards before each new tour.

Bank advantage

If the banker can sell all 32 tickets at a price of € 1, he takes € 32 and has to pay out a total of € 2 1 + 2 2 + 2 3 + 2 4 + 1 9 = € 29 in winnings, i.e. H. the banker has a profit ( bank advantage ) of € 3, i. e. 9.375% of all bets.
