Jacobello Alberegno

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jacobello Alberegno , also Jacobello Albaragno or Jacopo Alberegno (* before 1367, † before July 14, 1397 in Venice ), was an Italian painter.

Jacobello Alberegno was firmly rooted in the tradition of early Venetian painting. His origins and training are unknown, but his artistic conception seems to have been close to Paolo Veneziano and Giusto de Menabuoi . The proximity to Giusto de Menabuoi suggests contacts or a good knowledge of the painting schools in Padua .

In addition to a document in which he is mentioned as already deceased, there is a signed triptych with the depiction of the crucifixion of Christ with Saints Gregory and Jerome by his hand. Based on this work, some art scholars also attribute five panels with depictions of the Apocalypse to it. All works are in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.
