Life

Nothing is known about Albizzo di Piero's origins and training. He is mentioned for the first time on December 14, 1401 in the documents of the Florentine guild of sculptors, stonemasons and carpenters. After 1411 he took over the completion of the portals of Or San Michele, which had been started by Niccolò di Pietro Lamberti . He was responsible for the arcades on the west side, which he probably designed and then executed himself. At the same time, he was also working on the designs of the tabernacle niches for Donatello's Markus and Lorenzo Ghiberti's Saint John the Younger. T. involved.
