Silesian Tippelmarkt
The Schlesische Tippelmarkt ( Silesian: Schläscher Tippelmoarkt) is a pottery market in the city of Görlitz , which always takes place on the 3rd weekend in July. The first Silesian Tippelmarkt took place on July 17th and 18th, 1999 on the Untermarkt in Görlitz. After the Görlitzer Untermarkt was no longer available for the market due to construction work in 2001, the potters moved to the Obermarkt . In addition to simply selling the pottery, it is a traditional market where visitors can learn more about Silesian customs and pottery. The market has a different motto every year.

Highlights
Entry of the potters
The market traditionally begins with the move of the potters and all other players in the Tippelmarkt via Brüderstraße to the Obermarkt. The participating potters carry their craft aprons and a specific piece from their ceramic range with them. During the feeder there is the Thrushbeard scene , wherein a rider to horse zerreitet an established market stall with pottery. The market is opened acoustically with 3 gunshots from the Privileged Shooting Society Reichenbach und Umgebung 1430/1685 eV . This group is supposed to embody the defensibility of the craft and protect it. The market right is then granted. The entry is thematically oriented towards the respective motto.
Handover of the wedding cup
Every year a wedding goblet in clay is presented to a bride and groom who will get married on Saturday at the Silesian Tippelmarkt in the registry office in Görlitz. The wedding cup is a challenge cup and is passed on from year to year.
The tippel story
Every year there is a story that fits the respective motto. It is always performed on Sunday afternoons. It is told by the "singing master potter". The content is about handicrafts and Silesian traditions.
Important figures
Figures who carry the market and accompany them from the start are the singing master potter and the Silesian tipple woman . These have been embodied by Günter Meißner and Marianne Paul since 1999.
