Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Franzhagen
The Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Franzhagen line was the name for the main line of the ducal house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg from 1689 to 1709 . Its name was derived from Franzhagen Castle near Schulendorf in the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg .
The Duchy of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg had already gone bankrupt in 1667. The Duke Christian Adolf I married Eleonore Charlotte von Sachsen-Lauenburg in 1676 . In 1689 she inherited her father's property, Schloss Franzhagen, to which the Sonderburger line was reduced. It died out in 1709. In 1716 the Franzhagen Castle was demolished.

---|---|---|
1676-1702 | Christian Adolf I. | Former Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg, declared bankrupt in 1667; the former headquarters of Sønderborg Castle then went to the Danish crown. His wife from 1676 Eleanor Charlotte v. Sachsen-Lauenburg-Franzhagen brought the Franzhagen Castle into the marriage. |
1702-1707 | Leopold Christian | Son, unequal morganatic marriage with Anna Sophia Segelke , the children were not inheritable. |
1707-1708 | Ludwig Karl | Brother, married to the unequal Anna Barbara Dorothea von Winterfeld, whose children are entitled to inheritance as nobles for a property (allod). |
1708-1709 | Christian Adolf II. | minor son and heir (line expired). |
The real government power from 1702 had Eleonore Charlotte von Sachsen-Lauenburg, the wife of Christian Adolf I, because the sons had married under her estate. Anna Barbara Dorothea von Winterfeld only kept one house in Billwerder until her death in 1739.
