Rahim Rahmanzadeh (born June 13, 1934 in Shabestar ) is an Iranian-German specialist in trauma surgery, surgery and orthopedics . Rahim Rahmanzadeh carried out the first implantation of a total artificial hip joint in Germany in 1966 with a team of surgeons from the Mainz University Hospital. In 1977 he operated on a complete pelvic replacement with artificial bone for the first time worldwide.

Rahmanzadeh is a member or honorary member of various surgical societies and author of over 350 lectures and over 350 publications. Rahim Rahmanzadeh designed and developed implants and endoprostheses , such as plates for the upper extremities and for the lower leg as well as endoprostheses for the shoulder, elbow and hip joint.

In 1988, Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker awarded him the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , for his services to the development of modern osteosynthesis and endoprosthetics .

Life

Rahim Rahmanzadeh attended Elborz College in Tehran, Iran. He then studied medicine at Istanbul University in Turkey. He completed his time as an assistant doctor at the surgical clinic of the St. Hedwig Clinic , Mannheim. From 1964 he worked at the Surgical University Clinic in Mainz under Fritz Kümmerle . In 1970 he was appointed first senior physician and deputy director of the Clinic for Trauma Surgery at the Mainz University Clinic. In 1972 the habilitation followed. In 1973 Rahim Rahmanzadeh was appointed APL professor and civil servant for life and appointed to the chair for trauma and reconstructive surgery at the Free University of Berlin . In 1975 he became director of the Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital. From 1992 until his retirement in 2001 he was managing director of the surgical university clinic at the Free University of Berlin.

  • 2007: Awarded the Karl Schuchardt Medal for exceptional achievements in the field of quality assurance and its scientific evaluation by the German Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
