Castle Marienburg tattoo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Marienburg Castle Tattoo ( Tattoo = ' Zapfenstreich ') is a music event that has been held every year since 2009 on a summer weekend in the courtyard of Marienburg Castle near Pattensen in the Hanover region . The two largest music tattoos in the world, the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo (Scotland) and the Basel Tattoo (Switzerland) serve as a model . The Schloss-Marienburg-Tattoo, however, is not a military tattoo , in which mainly military orchestras are involved, but rather a marching tattoo in which the most varied of marching formations are in the foreground. In its extent, the Schloss-Marienburg-Tattoo is unique in Lower Saxony.

program

The program offers a cross-section of different music genres, from traditional brass music to pop , rock and jazz pieces to classical music. The main component and focus, however, are marching arrangements and formations, which are performed by different music groups (brass orchestras, marching bands, pipebands, show bands, drum corps, etc.).

history

The Schloss-Marienburg-Tattoo was launched in 2009. Since then, it has taken place every year under the leadership of the Nordstemmen wind band on a weekend in June, July or August in the courtyard of Marienburg Castle, which is located northwest of the village of Nordstemmen. At the beginning only two music groups were involved. From 2012 further groups were added. Since 2016 there have been a total of six groups. The participants change from year to year.

particularities

Since the demand was already very high in 2011, when the tattoo took place only for the third time, the traditional afternoon performance on Sunday was expanded to include an atmospheric evening performance on Saturday. A special feature here were the impressive light effects, which underlined formations and music.

Since 2016 there have always been two evening events, there are no longer any afternoon events.
