A first castle was built in the same place as early as 1450, the walls of which are still partially preserved. In the 16th century a residential tower and a "permanent house" are described. In 1598, Nickel Freiherr von Zedlitz is mentioned as the owner of the castle, who probably had the building rebuilt in the Renaissance style. The castle was partially destroyed in the Thirty Years War . The von Zedlitz family owned the complex until 1669. After that, the owners of the property changed frequently.

Around 1880, Boberstein Castle was acquired by Georg Jakob Paul von Decker. His son had the building rebuilt in the neo-renaissance style in 1894. Among other things, the entire structure was enlarged, with the tower and the main building being raised and enlarged. At the same time, a park in the style of the English landscape park was built on Bober. In 1933, Boberstein Castle was acquired by the state, which established an SA sports school there in 1934. From September 1939 the castle was used for Polish civil prisoners and later for resettlers from Bukovina . Internees from Luxembourg lived in the castle between 1940 and 1945.

After 1945

After the Second World War , the building was initially used by the Red Army . Subsequently, political refugees from Greece lived in the castle. Until 1970 the building was used as a holiday camp and as the headquarters of an agricultural production cooperative. After he moved out, the castle was no longer used and slowly fell into ruin. In 1972–73 the roof tiles of the castle were stolen, which accelerated the process of deterioration. In 1994 a German-Polish association bought the property. He had a children's holiday home set up in the courtyard buildings.
