Kottingbrunn Castle

The Kottingbrunn Castle is located in the village Kottingbrunn in the district of Baden in Lower Austria . The castle is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

Originally probably the seat of the Lords of Brunn with Heinrich de Prun (1202), who were sovereign Ministralia, and under Leopold VI. and Friedrich II are often mentioned in the ranks of ducal documents. In the 14th century the castle was owned by the Stüchse, in 1375 it went to the Pottendorfer, and in 1469 to Ruprecht Kreuzer, 1505 to the Kienburger, 1637 to the Count Brandis, 1687 to the Count Lamberg-Sprinzenstein, 1732 to the Count Dietrichstein. As a result, there was a rapid change of ownership. 1820 owned by Peter von Bohr . 1840 owned by Joachim Graf von Münch-Bellinghausen. Since 1873 in changeable fate with severe impairments of the structural condition. In the possession of the municipality since 1991, the castle has been used as a municipal office since 1992. The castle was restored from 1982 to 2000.

The regular cubic closed four-wing complex with towers placed on the side of the main facade stands as a moated castle surrounded by wide moats in the southeastern part of the town center.
