Lion Castle

The Leuven Castle ( Polish : Pałac Lewin Brzeski ) is a castle in Lewin Brzeski ( Leuven ), Opole Voivodeship , in Poland . Historically it belonged to the Duchy of Brieg .

history

The castle goes back to a wooden structure that burned down around 1680. Count Otto Leopold von Beeß had today's baroque palace built in 1722 . After 1790 the Nostitz owned, from 1796 the castle was sold to Hans Gottlieb von Stosch. Around 1870 the castle and the associated mill came to Carl Scholtz, and in 1918 to Friedrich Bilzer. The Bilzer had the building restored by removing older components.

From 1947 the castle was converted into a sugar technical school by the People's Republic of Poland .
