The castle was probably built at the beginning of the 16th century. In the second half of the 16th century it was owned by the barons von Hofmann. In 1591 Friedrich Freiherr von Hofmann sold the castle to Dr. Adam Venediger, who sold it on to the sovereign councilor Niklas Tschandik in 1600. Adam Grueber and his wife Maria Salome acquired the estate on January 10, 1611. In the following period, the estate changed hands frequently. On July 31, 1773, Josef Boseth von Trautenburg bought the castle together with Alt-Grabenhofen Castle , with which he merged it. Josef Boseth von Trautenburg sold the estate on in 1777. From this point on, the estate has often changed hands until today.
