Jesús Tirso Blanco
Jesús Tirso Blanco SDB (born June 3, 1957 in Ramos Mejía , Argentina ) is an Argentine religious priest , missionary and Roman Catholic bishop .
Life
In 1975 he entered the novitiate of the Salesians of Don Bosco and on January 31, 1976 took the temporary religious vows . He studied philosophy and theology, put on 24 January 1982, the perpetual vows and was on 28 September 1985 in São Justo for ordained priests . In 1986 he went to the Angola mission . In the Angolan Province of the Congregation, he first worked in the parish of São Pedro e São Paulo in Lwena , first as parish vicar , then from 1988 as pastor. After a few months in the Salesian Community of Dondo , he became director of the Ndalatando branch in 1991 , and at the same time pastor of the local parish of Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora . In 1996 he was given leave to continue his studies in Rome, where he obtained a degree in missiology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and that in social communication from the Pontifical Urban University . After returning to Angola in 1998, he was sent to the São Paulo Community in Luanda . Eventually he was appointed Provincial Youth Pastoral Coordinator and Director of the National Youth Pastoral Secretariat of the Angolan Bishops' Conference. In 2000 he was assigned as parish vicar of the community of São José de Nazaré , also in Luanda in the Lixeira district , and finally became pastor there. In October 2005 he was Provincial Vicar and again coordinator for youth pastoral care in the Angolan Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
On November 26, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Lwena in Angola . The Archbishop of Lubango , Zacarias Kamwenho , donated him episcopal ordination on March 2, 2008 . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Luanda , Damião António Franklin , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Angola, Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu . The inauguration took place on March 9, 2008.
