The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Luanda ( Latin Archidioecesis Luandensis , Portuguese Arquidiocese de Luanda ) is an in Angola situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Luanda . It includes the provinces of Luanda and Bengo .
history
As early as May 20, 1596, there was a diocese called Angola and Congo in Angola , which, according to its name, encompassed other areas outside Angola and was founded out of the diocese of São Tomé . From September 4, 1940, the diocese was called Luanda and was elevated to the status of an archdiocese. From 1957 to 1990 new dioceses were established in Angola, which then gradually formed the ecclesiastical province of Luanda.
