Pansin Castle ( Polish Zamek w Pęzinie ) is a castle in today's Polish Pęzino in Gmina Stargard ( Stargard District ), West Pomeranian Voivodeship .
The castle, an old moated castle , is an outstanding example of early modern castles in Pomerania . Up until the 14th century, an eponymous noble family resided at the place. From 1357 the Borcke were fiefdoms who sold the property to the Order of St. John . In 1420 they enfeoffed the von Güntersberg with the place. But Pansin was partly allodial property . After the von Güntersberg sold part of the property, the Order of St. John became the owner of the entire property, which became the seat of a commandery . At the end of the 15th century, however, the von Borcke owners are again mentioned, who remained so until 1660, when the von Puttkamer acquired the castle.
In addition to numerous building details from the Middle Ages, the building that is preserved today has received many stylistic elements through renovations during the Renaissance . Between 1850 and 1855, the palace was significantly redesigned according to plans by Heinrich Starck, but many medieval building elements have been preserved. Part of the castle burned down in 1935, but was restored soon after.
After the Polish takeover of the region, the castle became the seat of a state- owned estate .
