Pfersee Castle
The Pfersee Castle (also Schlössle Pfersee ) is located in the Augsburg district of Pfersee . It is a three-storey saddle building with stepped gables, four round corner towers and a round tower on the western front of the building.
history
The castle, which is essentially medieval, was built before the 13th century:
- For a long time the Schlössle was popularly called Hermannsburg , in memory of the robber baron, who spread fear and terror as 'Schröck von Phersee' and whose castle probably stood on the site of the castle .
The imposing building, which was surrounded by a large park with a wall, came into the possession of several families, not just noble families. In 1579 the castle, which was presumably largely destroyed, was extensively rebuilt and expanded by the owner family Zobel. In 1805 it became the seat of the Rent Office. In 1882 the independent municipality of Pfersee acquired the castle and built a hospital and poor house in it. With the incorporation of Pfersee into Augsburg, the castle came into the possession of the Fuggerstadt, which sold the building to an investor in the early 1990s.
Today the castle, which is a listed building , houses offices and medical practices.
Above the pilaster-framed castle portal is the coat of arms of the baron noble family von Spruner (also Spruner von Mertz), who acquired the castle in 1876:
- One of the earliest depictions of the so-called Schlössle von Pfersee is a miniature representation from the beginning of the 17th century ... The spacious property with its representative palace and its lush gardens testifies to a bourgeois self-image that confidently competed with the nobility ... Although the building underwent various changes in later times, the tree-lined area has remained almost untouched to this day. The vaulted hall from around 1600 in the southern entrance area, decorated with rosette-decorated belt arches, was preserved .
