Poitschach Castle (2011)

The Castle Poitschach in the town of Feldkirchen has long been the seat of Hammer masters. The baroque palace was built in 1715 by Johann Lorenz von Jovio. In 1759, Baron von Rechbach had the facility expanded and modernized. He was followed by a Count Spindler who sold the property to Countess Gilleis-Gavasini around 1800. After her family went bankrupt, there were frequent changes of ownership. The castle has belonged to the Senitza family since 1938 and, in addition to residential purposes, serves as the administrative seat of a forest and agricultural estate.

Poitschach Castle is a two-storey building with a rectangular floor plan. A tower is built on the south side. The windows are currently covered. The round-arched west portal is marked 1715. The spandrels of the architectural frame are adorned with acanthus motifs. The baroque coats of arms of the Leitner and Jovio families are painted over the gate cornice. The bay window on the east facade is richly decorated with volute brackets , stucco fields and slug glass from the end of the 19th century. In the castle there is a relief fragment from a Roman tomb with the representation of a genius in mourning . Several rooms were equipped with stucco ceilings in geometric shapes around 1800.

The two-storey Biedermeier building opposite the castle is marked 1833 on the gate of the gate.
