The Spielberg Castle , also known as the Castle Arbesser located in the municipality of Spielberg in the district of Murtal in Austria . Arbesser Castle was built in 1570. The castle was the inspiration for the naming of the surrounding community. Around 1575 only the rule around the castle was given the name Spielberg , later the castle gave its name to the entire community. The real origin of the Spielberg name is unclear, but has a prominent example . The administrator correspondence found in the castle a few decades ago is one of the most informative sources about the rural conditions in Upper Styria in the middle of the 18th century.

Noble families

The history of the castle is also linked to the careers of some noble families, including the Teufenbacher ( Teuffenbacher ), the Heinrichsperger and the Lachawitz . The castle has been owned by the Arbesser-Rastburg family since the beginning of the 19th century .
