Stenhammar Castle

The Stenhammar Royal Castle is located in the Swedish municipality of Flen . The property belonging to the castle covers 2000 hectares, of which 1200 hectares are covered with forest.

The entire estate had been known as Slädhammar since the late 14th century . The name change took place when today's two-story main building with its turrets was built in 1658. In 1809 the castle was bought by the wholesaler Anders Petterson, who in 1870 bequeathed it to his grandson, Court Marshal Robert von Kræmer. Both are strongly committed to improving the property.

Robert von Kræmer decreed in his will that the estate would go to the Swedish state and that the castle should be leased to a male descendant of the Bernadotte family. This lease should be 1,000 crowns per year. Prince Wilhelm lived in the castle from 1903 to 1965, after which the Crown Prince and today's King Karl XVI took over. Gustav the lease.
