Castle Zerben even Plothosches Castle called, is a mansion in Zerben in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

In 1847 a simple half-timbered house was converted into a palace complex that followed the characteristics of the Weser Renaissance . The manor owner Wolfgang von Plotho, inspired by the Leitzkau palace complex , had a three-winged ensemble built between 1874 and 1879. The single-storey complex, the roof of which is provided with typical Renaissance gables, is exposed on the edge of a park facing the Elbe and is therefore easily recognizable from the Elbe dike across the meadows.

In 1948 parts of the palace were demolished on the orders of the Soviet military administration . After the municipality of Zorben became the owner in 1996, it was listed as a historical monument in 1998 . Since 1999 efforts have been made to gradually restore the property to its original shape. The renovation was successfully completed in July 2011.
