history

The castle chapel was originally located directly in the High Castle in Bad Grönenbach. Even the Pappenheimers and later the Fuggers had Holy Mass celebrated here regularly. In the course of secularization in 1802, the castle chapel was also dissolved. The inventory was taken up in 1802 and 1803 by Abele, the Bavarian repeal commissioner, and auctioned off on August 16 and 17, 1803 by the auction commissioner Durocher. The inventory list contained, among other things, 1 altar sheet and altar, including a wooden cross, 2 candlesticks, 6 measuring pillows, 5 missal books, 7 paintings, 1 holy water kettle made of tin. Some of these objects were bought by Kaplan Diepolder for 11  florins .

From 1803 a royal Bavarian regional court was housed in the High Castle, so the castle chapel was no longer used. This was now used as a horse stable for the servant. Even after the regional court moved to Memmingen in 1880, the castle chapel remained in its unused, desolate state until 1901. After Dominikusringenisen had acquired the high castle on October 26, 1901, the castle chapel was restored.

Since 1938 the castle chapel is no longer in the High Castle, but is housed in the nearby ring iron house. Eucharistic celebrations are currently taking place regularly in the castle chapel .
