Schmalenbach Society for Business Administration

The Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft eV sees itself as a comprehensive, independent business association in Germany and is a non-profit association . Its main goal is to promote the dialogue between business research, teaching and practice in the spirit of the co-founder of business administration, Eugen Schmalenbachs , who died in 1955 .

history

It emerged from the "Schmalenbach Association" founded in 1932. In 1978 the Schmalenbach Society for Business Research and Practice (Cologne) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft eV - The German Business Economists Day (Berlin) merged to form today's Schmalenbach Society. In 1998 the name was changed to Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft eV

As a forum for dialogue between science and practice, the company pursues the following goals, among others:

  • Exchange of experience on the application of new business knowledge and methods and the acquisition of new business knowledge in cooperation between science and practice.
  • Maintaining close relationships between business research , teaching and business practice (e.g. at events and in working groups).
  • Dissemination of new business knowledge and achievement of broad business management problem awareness in the public (through events and publications).
  • Stimulation of new research in the field of business administration and in the related social and natural science areas (e.g. by awarding the Schmalenbach Prize by the Schmalenbach Foundation).
  • Elaboration of business opinions on current issues of economic practice and legislation.

It publishes individual studies and Schmalenbach's journal for business research .
