Patients with chronic pain are treated on an outpatient basis in a pain clinic . The staff of a university pain clinic include doctors, nursing staff or medical assistants and mostly psychotherapists , sometimes also physiotherapists . There is usually a collaboration with a psychosomatic clinic , often also with rehabilitation facilities. The doctors in a pain clinic can usually introduce patients to an interdisciplinary pain conference .
