Bankhaus Spängler in Linz (2011)

The Schmidtberger-Haus , also known as Bankhaus Spängler , stands on the main square in Linz .

The Schmidtberger house, which was owned by the mayor Siegmund Schmidtberger in 1595, is a late Gothic long courtyard house with a width of 6.5 m and a depth of 60 m. Originally with a three-storey gable-independent main square facade with a wide bay window, it was raised by two more storeys in the Baroque era and designed with an eaves end.

Acquired in 1999 by the Carl Spängler bank , the privileged, but desolate, listed property was renovated by the local architect Andreas Heidl in a construction process that took years to complete.
