Rapid filing paste

With quick filing paste a (fat) paste is known that no practical use when filing, but probably has in the didactics in different occupations.

use

In a number of professions, especially in the metalworking industry, the apprenticeship begins with lengthy filing work. Usually a piece of so-called steel girder is used, a U-shaped profile steel , which is very hard and difficult to machine.

Purpose of this training section is the one to the trainee to handle the file almost bring him further patience to train at work and finally to let him work with high accuracy and appropriate quality awareness.

As a rule, work on U-steel takes four weeks to half a year, depending on the degree of precision required by the profession to be learned. During this time, sooner or later there is always a trainee who complains about the tedious, especially monotonous task at the beginning, which in most cases also leads to temporary blistering on the palms of the hands.

Usually the first apprentice, who expresses himself as suffering, receives the tip from a colleague, a journeyman or a trainer or master to get high-speed filing paste because it makes the work much easier. The trainee advised in this way is then sent to someone who (often allegedly "on the fly") has the paste in stock.

In fact, the trainee is then given black or white shoe wax, for example, which has been poured into a neutral can especially for this purpose. However, the use of this “miracle cure” by no means leads to the desired success - on the contrary, the fatty cream settles in the grooves of the file, makes the file and workpiece greasy and slippery and ultimately leads to the file no longer having a cutting effect.

Sense and purpose

In addition to the pure spoofing, real teaching content is also given and desired: On the one hand, the trainees learn that there is no possibility of speeding up some (unpleasant) work, on the other hand they also learn that it is helpful before application to think about any resources.
