Whistle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schnurr whistle or Schnurrpfeiferey / Schnurrpfeiferei is an obsolete term for a useless, useless and worthless item, comparable with trinkets or knick-knacks . It is possibly derived from the Lower Saxon word Schnürpfeife , for the sleeve that is attached to the end of shoelaces , as this has no use or value outside of this use. According to Duden, Schnurrpfeiferei is a derivation of Schnurrpfeife "purring pipe, childish, useless".

The term whistling is also used to denote various games of entertainment and skill.
