Schoeller Münzhandel is a trading company for collector coins and precious metals based in Vienna . The trading area includes classic and modern numismatics as well as precious metal investment products. The company was founded in 1989 as a spin-off from Schoellerbank and has been a subsidiary of the Austrian Mint since 2005 .

Schoeller Münzhandel GmbH has been operating as an independent company since November 1989. Before that, the company was part of Schoellerbank. Schoeller Münzhandel GmbH has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mint Austria since 2005 , which in turn has been a stock corporation since 1989.

Development of sales at Schoeller Münzhandel GmbH from 2004 to 2011

In the past decade, the sales of Schoeller Münzhandel GmbH have increased significantly. In 2004 sales were € 24.7 million, in 2005 € 26.6 million and in 2006 this sales had already more than doubled - to € 70.6 million. In 2007, € 116.5 million was sold, in 2008 it was € 246.7 million - which corresponds to a tenfold increase in sales from 2004. According to the company's own information, sales increased by 40% to € 355 million in 2009 and by a further 25% to € 438.5 million in 2010. Also due to the increasing demand from Eastern Europe, the turnover for the year 2011 rose to a record value of 783.4 million € and made Schoeller the 109th highest-turnover company of the year in Austria.

Products

In the field of classic numismatics, the company offers buying and selling as well as advisory services, appraisals, valuations, auction representation and general support for collectors. Schoeller Münzhandel also offers collector coins from 1945 onwards. Modern coin programs are sold in almost all mints in the world, as well as so-called "NumisART" products: Lifestyle coins, e.g. B. with colored holograms, crystals, mirror effects or fragrances. 26 producers worldwide are permanent partners.

The company supplies gold, silver, palladium and platinum to retail and wholesale customers. In addition to investment coins such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Maple Leaf or Krugerrand, bars are offered. Gold made up the largest share of sales in 2011 with over 70%, in the first half of 2011 Schoeller Münzhandel sold around ten tons of silver per month.

Schoeller also offers numismatic accessories.

Management and organization

Gernot Maier (responsible for PR, marketing, classic and modern numismatics and international business, among other things) and Gustav Mayer (responsible for the finance, investment products and precious metals divisions) have been leading the 35-strong team since 2007.

There are three Schoeller shops in Austria - in Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck. Schoeller also sells Münzhandel over the phone, via subscription, e-commerce and auction houses worldwide as well as via a branch in Freiburg (Germany) - and since June 2012 via its own online shop.

Schoeller Münzhandel supplies wholesale customers all over the world - the export quota in 2010 was 85 to 90%. The sales network spans a total of 36 countries worldwide. The most important sales markets are Austria and its neighboring countries as well as the entire CEE region (the Czech Republic is the second most important market after Germany).
