Schopflenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schopflenberg is a settlement that belongs to the Göppingen district of Bezgenriet and has around 870 inhabitants. The first mention of the abandoned settlement Schopflenberg or Schopfloch dates back to 1142. After the Second World War , the settlement was rebuilt due to the increased influx of refugees and displaced persons to Bezgenriet.

traffic

Schopflenberg is connected to Bezgenriet and Hattenhofen via a district road (K 1419). This leads past the edge of Schopflenberg, so that there is little through traffic in the village itself. The Aichelberg junction of the A 8 motorway is about seven kilometers away. The place is also connected to the local transport network of Göppingen.

Buildings

Schopflenberg used to have a Protestant church. It was first mentioned in 1275 as a parish church, later called the Chapel of the Holy Cross . Bezgenriet also originally belonged to it until its own church was built there in 1405. Schopflenberg was then parish off to Uhingen , but from 1469 it was again referred to as a parish church. In 1554 the church on the Schopflenberg was demolished and its stones were used for the construction of the castle in Göppingen.

Today there is another church in Schopflenberg, namely the Catholic Herz-Jesu-Kirche , which was only recently built.
